The FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 should provide a tantalizing appetizer ahead of world football's main course: the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. World champions Italy, European champions Spain and South American champions Brazil are all due to grace the intercontinental showpiece scheduled for summer 2009.

The tickets for the elite event will go on sale as of 23 November 2008, the day after the official draw takes place. Tickets can be easily obtained via the tournament's official portal on FIFA.com. Those interested can register now for the FIFA.com club and reserve their tickets, free of charge.

During the first phase of ticket sales, reservations will be processed in order of their reception. Within five days of the date the reservation was made, interested parties will be notified that their order has either been confirmed or cancelled.

During the second phase of ticket sales, which will begin in April 2009, fans can reserve more tickets and will receive immediate notification as to whether their request was successful.

For VISA credit-card holders, there is a special offer available. During the week before tickets officially go on sale, that is to say the week of 15-23 November 2008, they will be able to buy tickets in advance on FIFA.com.

Besides the official ticket sales option available on FIFA.com, competition tickets can also be bought at any First National Bank branch in South Africa.

Seating is determined by the category of ticket purchased.
Seats in category 1 are generally located alongside the pitch.
Seats in category 2 are generally located adjacent to category 1, in the corners.
Seats in category 3 are generally located adjacent to category 2 behind the goals or in the corners.
Seats in category 4 are generally located behind the goals, and are only available to residents of South Africa.

Each Stadium is configured differently, however, so the general rules should not be considered definitive in each circumstance.
